BCBG stands for bon chic, bon genre (Parisian slang), which in other words meaning good style, good attitude. It was designed by Max Azria with supervision from his wife, Lubov. The label got recognition from celebrities and retailed in close to 500 stores worldwide. Max Azria also designed other casual wears and upscale Max-Azria collections, which were produced in masses due to high demand. The designer majors in dresses mix and match separates.

Max Azria, the founder of BCBG clothing line, is a Tunisian designer born in 1949. The clothing line’s headquarters is Los Angeles and has over 20 different brands. Azria had been designing women’s apparel in Paris for eleven years before relocating to Los Angeles in 1981 where he launched a chain of boutiques for women wear known as Jess.

The BCBG Max Azria was officially launched in 1989. The prices of the designer wears at the boutiques were affordable and thus were accredited by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Azria also bought the French fashion house called Herve Leger, making him the first American designer to own a French couturier. The first main brands were the max azria and max azria atelier, which were officially launched in 2006 and 2004 respectively. In 2007, he launched the French couturier with his designs, which became popular amongst the celebrities. The max azria designs have been worn by many actors and celebrities in Hollywood. Azria also teamed up with Miley Cyrus to develop a Walmart brand known as Miley Cyrus & Max Azria line. Additionally, Azria continued to design Miley Cyrus’ clothes, especially during her world tours.

Max Azria serves as the CEO, chairman and head designer of the company while his wife, Lubov, is the chief creative officer.
